When the weather cooperates I am a  contemporary plein-air landscape artist and when it doesn't I am a studio artist.  My medium of preference is oil.  Gratefully I have won awards and sold many paintings.  My most recent achievement was having "Darden Bridge Connection" accepted into a traveling exhibit around the state of Indiana and published in a book entitled "Painting Indiana III:  Heritage of Place" which is available for purchase on Amazon.com.

      "Late Bloomer"  24 x 60 oil on canvas 12.2014

On an exquisite, Midwestern fall day, needing some local inspiration, I drove to a nearby state park to hopefully set up and paint.  After scouting and taking some pictures, the scene I really wanted to paint wasn't a conducive spot for setting up.  After some debating I went for a well-needed hike instead which turned out to be an interesting educational adventure in itself.  I painted this one in my studio using my palette knife.    ** I made a companion piece for this as it "screaming" to me.
